Janis Doucette
Mixed Media Artist, North Reading, MA
Janis finds joy in layering and combining mediums on various substrates: “I thoroughly enjoy the play with color, value and construct, particularly the improvisation which starts with one thing, an idea, a glimpse of a vision, perhaps something that captures my eye for a moment in time and it grows organically. I become focused on whatever piece I’m working on and follow my muse to find the way to my own original art.”
Janis is familiar with a wide range of mediums and processes of studio and fine arts with special skills in decorative painting and well versed in hand-carving soft block and various printmaking methods, collage, polymer clay and textile art.

BS Human Services, New Hampshire College, Manchester, NH (now Southern New Hampshire University); A.A. in Liberal Arts, Cape Cod Community College, Barnstable, MA; Classes in Drawing, Studio Arts, Painting (acrylics) and Sculpture and many Textile Art technique classes.
Completed extensive coursework in Interior Design/Interior Architecture at UC Berkeley, SF, CA. Credits earned in Drafting; Elements of Design; Rapid Visualization; History of Architecture, Interiors and Decorative Arts I and II; and Color Theory.
