Last night I drove to Warren, RI to see the exhibit at the ICA, Multiplicities, New Directions in Fiber, and it was worth the drive through Boston and Fall River at rush hour!
There was so much to take in! I can’t say that there was anything strikingly new but it was a good representation of what is among the best of contemporary fiber art, with some pieces incorporating unexpected materials.
First, I’ll share with you some of my favorite, not all, because I can’t sit for longer at my computer so I’ll share more later.

As I was scrolling down your beautiful section of art quilts,, # 4 strongly reminded me of Betty Busbys work. I went back up ro check names, and sure enough .it was.Betty Busby’s work.I though how important it is to find your own voice,,as they say..I wondered if anyone looked at
one of minec would
place it as mine? I think our style immerges over many years, don”t you?

Yes, I do think voice emerges with time and experience. I was beginning to doubt that mine ever would, but because I’ve been looking into the issue and reading what I could find about it, my own eye has begun to recognize it. I treated my blog posts almost as if I had a school paper due on the subject and I really did learn a lot myself from the effort I put into it. To some extent, I think there’s an aspect of “creating” voice, as opposed to “developing” it, but at a deeper level, I suspect there’s no faking it. Thanks for the comments!

I forgot to ad,” Aswesome website, Great content, fun and to viit. l yedt we re recieving abut educational as well, in a non lecthury way so we enjoy hving our .horizons expanded as well. Thanks Barb
