February One Four Challenge – Week One

A new month for the One Four Challenge on Robyn’s Captivate Me Blog.  It’s been so cold and snowy here in New England I thought I’d try to warm us up with a picture taken a couple years ago at a campfire at one of my son’s summer vacation spots in New Hampshire.

Processing was pretty straight forward for the first one.  Smart sharpened and tweaked exposure, hue and contrast ever so slightly.  No crop. Here’s the original image:

  1. My interest is definitely peaked to see where you go with this image. Wow, it feels very challenging to me. You did warm up the image a bit for this first edit and I agree with the above comment, I enjoy the bark details.

      1. Banding is vertical or horizontal lines that can run through an image. They are a digital artifact that is created by certain shooting conditions with particular combinations of high contrast scene content, lighting, camera settings, substantial enlargement and the shooting environment.
SInce you have a Nikon Coolpix and the banding is most prominent in the shadows it is most likely a lottery hit of the perfect conditions for the banding to be created.
Nothing wrong with the camera just an anomaly.
