I’ve begun to take some of the pieces that I printed this summer and transform them into wholecloth quilts. This one I’m calling “Solar” and stitched it both by machine and by hand. It’s about 14″ X 21″ inches. I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. This was sun printed using Jacquard Solar Fast Ink.
Linking up with Nina Marie’s Off The Wall Friday post.
Very nice!

Simply lovely. How did you secure the leaves? (I battle with wind when I do sun-dyeing.)

Thanks! I usually placed a sheet of acrylic over the top if it was windy, at least for awhile. Also, I used large acrylic trays to place the while thing in before I applied the leaves and, to some extent, this keeps them a bit protected (the kind you buy as a molded picture frame)or placed the trays over the cloth.

beautiful colours, layers, textures. great work! if you get a chance sometime, post a bit on how you got those leaves and ferns printed on? it looks really cool. I’m not familiar with the process you’ve used but am quite intrigued! very impressed with your hand stitching

Thanks Deb! Yes, thought I had posted process pics for this but upon looking back, I realized I didn’t. It was a busy summer, so look for a new post with the details in April!
