Gala Anniversary Of The Gallery in Malden!

Greetings My Friends! Lots of pictures today. Took me awhile to process them all while I took a lot of naps and slept alot to catch up! It was a well attended event with friends of The Gallery gathered together to celebrate a full year of operating as a full time gallery, gift shop and cultural center for musicians, writers, poets and so on. Hope you enjoy the pics!

As Display Coordinator, I’ve tried to lead you through the shop and have organized the displays into bodies of work by the artists. So, I’m presenting this as a virtual walk through The Gallery that I hope inspires you to make a real visit. Nothing replaces seeing the art in person!

There are many more exciting items than you can see here. Mostly because I took a lot of bad photos and many talented artists who have nary a mention but deserve to be seen and experienced! So do remember to stop in if you are nearby. We’re open Tuesday through Sunday, 11 AM to 7 PM until December 24th!

I was also not well placed, being so short myself, to get a photo of our Mayor, Gary Christianson but he and his team was there as always to support our cause – thanks Gary!  And last but NOT least…..

A few years ago, Leona contacted me because she thought I, being connected to many fiber artists, might be able to help her find a woman artist whose art she had inherited. Having absolutely no space at home to hang any work, Leona wanted to locate the artist to see if she’d like it back. I searched and thought I found a relative but Leona could not reach her. A couple of weeks ago, after seeing the invitation I sent her to attend our Gala Anniversary Event, she recognized the name we had been searching for as one of our artists. I could hardly believe it – I had forgotten the name, but sure enough Selina Navroski was indeed the artist who made the piece of textile art that she had inherited from her friend, “Papa Penny!” who had commissioned the work soon after Selina arrived in the Beverly area in 1995. Selina was shocked to hear the story I told her and I was able to reunite her to the great piece of her art history and with the woman who gave her back such a gift! Some things simply cannot be made up! Such a small world for those with big hearts! Good show, Leona!

Good show to all that were involved for months putting together this gala event and all the seemingly insurmountable attendant work that we needed to do to set The Gallery up for success. We are still in negotiations and with fingers crossed await the final word!
