Fiber in the Present Tense 2014

Fabulous day yesterday!  I attended my first meeting of SDA (Surface Design Association) in New Bedford and found myself surrounded by some very talented and friendly folks.  The meeting date was chosen to coincide with the opening of the exhibition, Fiber in the Present Tense 2014 at Art Works Gallery, an outgrowth of the New Bedford Art Museum.

Some of the highlights of the exhibit:

Mary Ellen Latino is the creator of Last Memories 1, a fabulous portrait of her mother digitally printed, then overdyed with a shibori dye technique.

Kimberly Becker’s work is quite poignant.  Hers are small pieces painted onto fabric and embellished with thread.  This is a fine example of her work.
