The Pleasure of Silk

The pleasure of working on silk after cutting my teeth on cotton and linen is sheer joy! It’s such magic compared to all the labor of the cotton process. You definitely reap the rewards of all that you’ve learned when you switch over.

These are 14″ x 72″ Habotai Scarves scarves. They were dipped in a combination of mullien tea with alum sulfate, chalk and weak black tea. Cotton carrier cloths dipped in Ferrous Sulfate were used in between the silks. They were rolled onto commercial grade plastic wrapped tin cans and steamed for two hours.0868-9-5detail-0875p0868-2detail-0879b
