On September 16th, the SAQA Benefit Auction will begin.
This link takes you to a complete explanation of how the auction works.
If you follow this link it takes you to my donated piece. Each are 12 x 12″ quilts and you’ll have 437 pieces of art to choose from!
In The Light Shines Through, I began with a photo of some of my Black Cohosh in dappled light where the sun pokes through some of the leaves and shade still dominates the landscape. I pieced various cloths together, but each piece has something of the same quality of light. The black is a discharged cotton; where the black is removed, it leaves behind a light brown color that remains on the surface. All of the various hand dyed fabrics share that magic of elusive light. In the upper left corner is a “prayer bundle,” an element that has become something of a signature on many of my works. As I make these small bundles I say a prayer that gets wrapped into the small bundle. It may be a spiritual wish for the owner of the piece or a more ephemeral hope and prayer for the universe.
You’d be smart to check it out now to figure out what you may want to bid on before the bidding begins.
