What a waste of time! I just spent a good part of 2 days trying to discharge some of my prints on fabric with Thiox with very disappointing results. Some days are better than others! I used 5 times the beginning dose of Thiox in the mix and still it was barely noticeable! Ugh! I so wanted it to work but it must be time to make lemonade! OK, I’ll stop griping and move on…I did and I used what was left of the discharge paste on some of my breakdown prints and that worked, so I know it wasn’t a bad product or a faulty mixture. It just didn’t want to work on the eco-prints.
Part of making the transition indoors has been to grab some time to just play and explore with collage and paint. In Jane Dunnewold’s Creative Strength Training group on Facebook, we have weekly “Prompts.” I did this fabric collage with a digital overlay of an actual drawing of my hands that I colored in on Photoshop.

Then, just for myself, I did a couple of experimental acrylic paintings: using only a palette knife as a tool. That was fun. It certainly makes great texture and you can achieve some real depth.
It’s definitely not always about the finished product. It can be just about changing up your usual way of doing things, getting a different point of view, pushing yourself in new directions, changing your head set.You never know when that experiment will resurface in surprising ways to be just the thing you needed to experience.
Thanks for stopping by. You may want to check out Nina Marie’s post today as well.
“You never know when that experiment will resurface in surprising ways to be just the thing you needed to experience.” Completely agree. Keep on keepin’ on… Salut Janis!
